    Sync query

A friend of mine just got himself a Toshiba 32" LCD in the sales but has a small problem. When the TV is connected up to the amp, there is a delay in the sound so it appears out of sync. It's fine when just coming through the TV speakers so can anyone tell me why this would be happening and what he can do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance

You'll probably find it's a delay in the picture, not the sound. The TV knows about the delay and delays the sound accordingly. It's a problem with most HDTVs. For example, guitar hero would match up with what's on screen better if you had your old CRT TV.

However if it's really a delay in the sound, I'd say his amp is performing poorly or has some dolby surround delays set wonky. It should be plenty quick enough.

Ok cheers Charles. Is there anything that can be done to sort out the picture or sound delay (I imagine the former would be easier to fix?)?

Newer surround amps have an audio delay option. As do some upscaling DVD players and XBMC. If he needs to keep his current kit, you can buy digital audio sound delay boxes. Fairly pricey though. Can't remember who makes them. Some games like guitar hero 3 have adjustments in the options.
