Figure of Eight lead - Kettle plug convertor

Hi, I have some cables chased into my wall and one of them is the power lead for the previous owners telly. The problem is that it's a figure of eight lead with the small two pin end. My telly takes the standard kettle connection into it's rear for power.

Now rather than chisel the wall open and replace the power lead can I get a convertor for the end. Or can I just cut the end off and wire in my own kettle end?

    Hope the above makes sense.

    Personally I'd be well wary.

The lead in the wall sounds like a thin wire, whereas your cable is likely to be a much thicker one. It must be thicker for a reason.

If there was an electrical fire you could be liable for the damage with no insurance, especially these days with the increase in legislation on electrical installations.

I've been into a couple of local TV audio shops and they assure me they do the same thing with their display TV's ie, convert the cables themselves for ease of changing the display models.

Or I guess I just buy a TV which takes a power of eight power connector.
