    New PS3 update kills machine???

Ok after my PS3 stoped reading disks recently ive been looking around online and it seems that litteraly hundreds of people started having the same problem as me since sony released the new firmwire....

So my question is... are sony purposley killing peoples machines on purpose so they have to pay loads of money for a new drive? Is this a new strategy they are employing becuase the machine isnt making enough money?

Also, anyone else on here had this problem yet?

    Yes.

Not had it, never heard of the problem before you mentioned it.

Hope you get it sorted. Have you called Sony to find out if they are aware of the problem?

Is not the firmware, it happens to outdated PS3s as well. Mine stopped working last week (updated to 2.10 weeks ago), Sony will swap it for free, under warranty obviously (7 months old)

Not had it, but I've also lost my store receipt so I'm screwed if it does happen

Well the general thing seems to be that people think the firmwire dosent kill your PS3 stright away, but it IS the firmwire.

My PS3 is over a year old, so I'm guessing they wont swap it for free, despite it seemingly being there fault. Will probabaly give them a ring tomorrow anyway and see what they have to say.
