Question re: Wii, SD cards and VC downloads

As the internal memory on both of my Wii's is nearly full and I download a fair few VC games, I'm looking at buying an SD card or two.
I had heard that if I copy a VC game over to the card and then delete it off my Wii it may not work, is there any truth to this?

In other words, can VC games be run off an SD card or would I need to copy it across to the Wii memory each time I want to play it?
Also, how would this affect game saves?

    Thanks

To date VC games cannot be played directly from SD cards, only the internal memory. You can simply back them up to SD, thats all, but your Wii Shop account will keep track of what you have bought anyway if you delete and need to redownload in the future.

In fact, it appears that the SD card can only be used as a means to backup all content - including game saves. When I bough a card, I had assumed it was like the Saturn in that you could save and load savegames directly from the SD card - an extension of system memory. Sadly this is not so.

      Unless anyone knows differently?

You're right. All you can do is back stuff up onto the SD card and then if you want to use it at a later date you'll need to clear some space on your Wii memory and copy it over. Seems pretty pointless for VC games TBH as you can simply redownload them any time you want - you'd probably spend as long farting about with copying files and whatnot as you would just redownloading them.

There's a bit of info on moving saves from one machine to another or using saves downloaded from the net here.
