    PC Help

Hi guys thought this would be the best place to start before i start messing around with settings and destroying my computer.

Iv got one profile at the moment and one for anybody else to use. My one is password protected and the other one isnt.

I was on the other one today installing programmes for them etc etc and i found everything that doesnt work on my profile working on the other one. I know its a bit petty and sad for a few programmes but i was wondering if there was a way of moving all my folders of stuff from my profile to the other profile and then letting them use the one that the programmes dont work with. They also dont use the programmes i use so it wont be a problem.

The files / folders are too big to fit on a CD to copy and move over and i dont have a zip drive or anything else so i was wondering if you guys knew of any way i could transfer all my stuff over to the different account so then i can use the one that works.

    Your help is most appreciated.

    Ginza.

You didn't mention an OS, but assuming its nt/2000/xp

Right click My Computer, select properties, advanced, user profiles (location varies from os). From here you can copy one profile to another.

You'll be best to create a test account first and you will need to log into it to create the profile. Then copy you existing profile to the test one to check. Profiles on 2000/xp are the user names under Documents and settings folder, on NT i think there under \WINNT\profiles.

I cant remember is there would a sharing voliation if you try to copy an active profile (ie one your logged in as), might be worth creating another administrator account to use to copy. A bit of a pain but it should work. We've had to do a simular thing at work with a Domain migration and it seems to have worked for us.

Remember create test accounts first to try this with, do not delete anything until you are happy it worked
