PSN store query - which account from a US PS3?

I've recently purchased a US PS3 and want to finally access the PlayStation store over the weekend. However, I'm not sure which store I should use - the UK or US? Will it be possible to sign up for the UK store from a US machine? And can I sign up for a US account and purchase from it?

All details are in the PSN section of the forum, but basically you can sign up for multiple accounts (UK/US/JPN) from the same PS3.
