Please help my technophobic parents!

Ok guys I need some help here regarding my parents buying a recording device for their TV viewing at home in the UK. Because Im Sydney I really have limited knowledge of whats available there.

They basically want a way of recording their TV shows (mainly off Sky but also FreeView) to watch when they want at home BUT also have the option of bringing recorded stuff away with them as they have a holiday home they go to every weekend... so DVDR media might be the go.

They're worried because as I understand it the UK goes completely digital in 2009 and analogue is dropped altogether. They semi-understand the difference between a DVD Recorder, a HDD PVR and all that but they are just worried if they walk into the likes of Comet completely green they'll get blinded with science and so on.

Any reccomendations?

Do you know whether UK DVD recorders have digital tuners now and can record off digital channels (including sky?) without issue? Reason I ask is because here in Australia most DVD recorders are still crap beyond belief and only have analogue tuners. Pointless in my book.

All info. is greatly appreciated and obviously due to the fact they are complete technophobes the easiest to use and the cheapest is probably what they're after...

Think Huxley's right going down the DVD Recorder route, we've had one for a few years and it's very handy.

Try to find a freeview hard disc recorder with DVD Writer in it.

This will suit them.
