    Tv screen position problem!

Hi, my 14" sony triniton Tv has a problem when using the scart socket. The screen position is slighly to the left of the screen, meaning that I get a big border on the right hand side. This happens with most games but With the exception of halo and DorA3 on xbox (those being the only 2 on any console that dont have the problem, but other xbox games do the same thing). And also dvd's fill the screen fine. Why is this happening and is there any way to correct it?

    cheers for any advice.

Unless there's an option in the XB dash board or the games themselves to change the screen position then your f****d mate

This is a problem on all consoles i have ever used with scart but some developers are good enough to put an option in the game where you can change the screen position

What you doing with a 14 incher anyway

Get yo self a widescreen and there should be a screen positon menu on it so that you don't have to suffer that Horrible border.

Are you using an RGB Scart cable? I find that when my tv recieves an RGB signal (on its RGB scart socket) it shifts the picture to the left. If there's something over there I really really need to see then I have a switch on my scart switcher to disable RGB that I just click and it all shifts back to centre.

99/100 though I just live with a part of the picture being missing - the picture quality is so much better when RGB is enabled.

thats the rgb shift problem. if you can get in to the tvs service mode and alter the picture then that will solve it. dont attempt it if you dont know what you are doing .

This is a weird problem because on some games where you have the option to adjust the screen you can get rid of the border where as on others you can adjust the screen but it won't remove the border,if you know what i mean

The cube doesn't have this problem because you can adjust the screen in the dash board and this is great considering that some developers still don't have a screen adjustment option in there games

Deltra if you aren't using RGB then you shouldn't have this problem at all and even if you used RGB with your cube you shouldn't have any problems.

This is a common problem. Some tv`s now come with a RGB posistion option, so that you can adjust and get rid of the black borders.

The Xbox doesn`t have the problem because it displays an overscan image. Which basically means the image is bigger than the whole screen, so you never get to see the borders.

Its something you will have to live with on the PS2 and older consoles. The GC has an option to adjust the screen size in the main options, which is cool of Nintendo to include.

is it the new Flat Screen version (the silver 14")

if so there is an option in the menu, (just look around) its called RGB offset, you can adjust it there.

dont what ever you do use a box to dissable the rgb pic, man thats like
buying a super car and taking off the wheels... just not the done thing.

A new TV may not solve the problem, many have the RGB shift.

Maybe your TV has the option that beecee talks about. If not, you can try (if you feel confident) to access the hidden service menu to correct the problem.

The usual way to access it on a small Sony TV is:

In Stand-by mode, press the following sequence on the remote:

                  i+ (info)
                  5
                  vol+
                  tv (the screen symbol)

If it works, the letters TT should appear on the top right of the screen. Now press the menu button and you'll access the service menu, instead of the normal one.

You should search for h-pos or similar (horizontal position) in the geometry submenu and adjust it with the left & right buttons. You'll have to find a balance, because the correction for the RGB shift will displace other displays without the problem to the right too.

Once done, exit the service menu (iirc, with the menu button), and you'll go to the screen with the TT letters. To exit it press 0 twice.

WARNING: Enter the service menu at your own risk and write down the value of the options you find.

                  EDIT

You're not using RGB cables? I can't imagine how big the RGB displacement would be then.
