Squeezebox / and other home media stuff

Hi all does anyone here have one of these type of things running in ther house?

Or maybe a similar product, reason I ask is I want to extend music into our kitchen.
    Current set up is -
Server in loft 3tb full dvd rips along with music and pics.
Modem/router and wireless point in loft.
    HTPC in living room. (lan)
    XBMC in bedroom.(lan)
Cd player with amp and speakers in kitchen.

The wireless covers the whole house and garden so maybe in the summer will be looking to use a similar device or maybe the same one for music around the pool.
    Cheers in advance.

Changed the name of the thread as its had a fair few views - and the pms of pointers.
    Cheers all.

I have two of these running lossless FLAC files, extracted with EAC.
In the lounge, it's connected to my hifi and in the bedroom it's connected to a Denon Micro system.
    REALLY pleased with them.
You can have them playing different stuff or sync them to play the same.

If you want to try the server software, you can install it without buying a box and then check out the options on your laptop or PC or whatever and also use a java version of the remote control and box to test out the interface (note that the actual box performed a lot better than this java version).

You can also try streaming music to someone else's house via winamp from the server. It converts to mp3 on the fly to fit up your broadband pipe.

    Any questions, let me know.

P.S. Some places do discounts for buying 2 at once.

Looks like the Squeezebox 3 Classic for me then when I raise the funds.
I like the look of the duet as well, that remote looks cool. Also noticed some apps for the use of a PSP as a remote interface. http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_remotes.html

I use airtunes + itunes, for £65 it aint bad but it only plays itunes content, unless you haxor it for linux use where it works like a remote soundcard. it does for my needs though as I stream from my fileserver to the lounge or bedroom for music, and use the same library for my ipod, however its all in mp4 AAC format.

I did look at the itunes based options. But my systems is based around windows media centre and it doesnt play nice with itunes on a network.
Cheers for the pointers all. Gonna get a Squeezebox 3 Classic next month.

Got a new bit of kit on the way this month.

It can be used with the ps3 also, as its bluetooth.

Anyone else got any good info on gizmos for home media sharing?

Once you've got your SB, you'll find all the shoutcast radio browsing is built into the slimserver.

Well got my Squeezebox allset up in my room at the moment, it makes a great alarm clock - fave tunes and the headlines. It was intended for the kitchen so I can see another purchase not that far down the road.
charlesr did you notice that slimserver has been updated and is now called Squeezecenter? It has a nicer looking interface and does the artwork support for the dual system.
Only thing is the Alien plugin causes the the display to stutter and freeze every now and then.
