Ive been getting back into my dreamcast lately and been trying out some 2D stuff..
Ok so basically I've been playing guilty gear x and street fighter alpha 3. After comparing the two.. alpha 3 seems to have REALLY heavy scanlines.. Guilty Gear on the other hand looked lush.. Still with scanlines (i think) but you can barely see them. My DC is playing on a normal CRT via rf cable (dont have an rgb cable yet) and from what I know, I'm assuming that they are both outputting 15Khz low-res.
Now I know that Guilty Gear is a natively high-res game on the Naomi/Atomiswave (31khz) and I THINK its the same through VGA on the dreamcast. I'm also pretty sure that alpha 3 is a natively low-res game on the cps2 (15khz)
Is it that Guilty Gear on the dreamcast is outputing a higher scan rate than sfa3 (even when both on a low-res tv?)
Or is it that sfa3 is a poor DC conversion with shoddy scaling? I have a feeling that it looks way better on the Saturn but I haven't had the chance to try it. Even my megadrive/snes games look more vibrant.. I'm also gonna try out SF3s later on to compare..
Any help on the matter would be much appreciated!
