    PS3 HDMI Issues

Just switched from component over to hdmi on my PS3. 1st time hdmi, long time component fan.

So I left the hdmi options as default or automatic but my problem is this: my blu ray discs, upon playing, have a grainy image to them. It's noticable, though using the same discs through component shows no grain. What's going on then? The cable is a pioneer $30 effort, from what I've read there's really no difference between the cheap/high price range. My LCD is a Panasonic @ 720p, so I do set the ps3 to this format. What am I doing wrong? If it's any help, the movies I compared are: Black Hawk Down & Assasination of Jesse James.

    Thanks!

    Guessing-

Grain is how it should be. The component just blurred it up. I have found component to be a little poorer generally having gone from RGB -> HDMI -> component [for some things].

Use a 3D animated title (one of the tier 0 titles mentioned here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=858316 ) as referrence point. If what you are describing as grain isn't there, then you can be sure its the source (ie. flim grain).
