Advice for a new Xbox owner

I never owned an Xbox last gen until a few years ago when I picked one up very cheaply but never really played it. Been having a clear out and found it and thought I may as well put it to use.

Can anyone, either here or by PM, explain how to run emulators on it? Have heard about it but never really looked into it.

Also, a list of the best games (excluding Outrun, Ninja Gaiden, Halo and Halo 2 as I have those) which are available on PAL (I'm a regular importer but, unless there's a quick and easy way to play imports on a PAL Xbox, don't want to bother with that) and run in 60Hz would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You need to get it modded (soft mod or chipped) to use emulators on it.

Use our review advanced search to limit to high scoring xbox games.
You can't go wrong with Rallisport Challenge 2 though (arcadey racer).

I have an official memory card here with softmod on it so you can play any import games or emulaters.

Charlesr sorted me with it ages ago but I don't need it now. ?9 -delivered

Or if you have anything to trade for it.

(you'll need an original splinter cell to go with that mem card)

Full Spectrum Warrior and Chronicles of Riddick are both great. The Brothers in Arms games are good too if you like squad shooters.

I also really enjoyed the Xbox version of Manhunt if you've never played that - the director speaks to you through the Xbox Live headset and it's really f***ing creepy!

Splinter Cell + Memory Card + XBMC = best homebrew xbox experience.

I still use mine in the bedroom now just for media streaming. Really it still cant be beaten.

Final Burn and MAME are the best emulators on it as well, really excellent stuff.

Morrowind has about a hundred hours of gaming in it, though it can be a bit intimidating to begin with.

Yeah i agree, XBMC is awesome stuff. Seconded on Mame & Final Burn too, they're awesome playing them from the sofa on a decent CRT
                  Other exclusive/best versions on Xbox games i'd recommend would be;

                  Psi Ops
                  JSR Future
DOA Ultimate (re-mixed DoA 2 is the tops)
                  GTA 3/Vice City
                  Rocky (the first one)
                  Brothers In Arms 1 & 2
                  Timesplitters 2
                  Black
                  Burnout 2
                  Kung Fu Chaos

Think they all run 60hz too, though not sure on the GTAs

I think Final Burn has been superceded by KawaX. I can't tell the different tbh though.
