What processor is recommended of HD content

I've been given a small system (asus T2-p)and at the moment its got these specs

    Intel celeron 2.4ghz
    WD 80gb HD
    1gb ram
    Geforce 4 TI4200 golden sample

Now ive tried some HD stuff off the apple site and its jerky as hell or the picture is way behind the sound. Ive installed all kinds of codec packs to no avail. (SD stuff is fine)

These are the processors it will take

Is the processor really incapable of displaying 720p let alone anything else

You can use a P4 on the system, however P4s are extremely power-hungry and heat inefficient processors, if you're using the system as an HTPC I would advise against such an upgrade, also because P4 system are basically dead systems...a nice low end Core 2 Duo system with a low-end AMD card, like the HD2400 or HD2600 that have full HDCP and HD capabilities would be your best bet as a low-power, silent running HTPC, even if obviously costs more than a single P4 processor.

WMV 9 VCM - needed for WMV HD files.

That should suffice, and use Media Player Classic to play everything.

Not sure what's in FFDshow nowadays, you may need the Quicktime Alternative codec that you can Google - don't install Quicktime itself.

Would imagine you'll be alright with all that, you really don't need much to process HD clips online.
