    My 360 just died

Arse - my 360 appears to have gone tits up. My console is out of warranty so I will need to get it repaired or replace it. Can anyone help by identifying the problem though?

Aboyut two weeks ago we have a series of power surges which suddenly switched everything in the street off then on again. I unplugged my consoles but not before I got a three rings of death on my 360.

Luckily it seemed to work ok after I left it a while.

Anyway, this past friday evening I was playing something or other and when I went to change the games I got the three red rings again. I hadn't touched the console since then until tonight.

When I switch the console on the front four ring display is not lit apart from the middle. I can hear the console whirring but there is no picture on the screen. The LED on the power supply is green. The scart and everything else is plugged in. After leaving it for about five minutes, I get the flashing three rings of red.

Now sadly my console is out of warranty. It is also flashed (something I had no knowledge of when I got it). It must be about two years old I would imagine. I know someone who can repair 360s but I need to know what it is first, and indeed whether there is anything I can do myself to rectify the problem.

Please can anyone help me sort this out. I was just about to get stuck into the Pro Evo league as well so I guess I had better scratch that one unless anyone has a miracle solution.

Having no 360 makes me realise how much I am going to miss it. I am gutted! ****ing gutted!

Alright Seany - it'll be the 0102/0020 error, the GPU joints are in the process of completely borking, hence the randomness of it working. Basically the GPU isn't working as it should, the 'box is still probably passing post but has no way of displaying graphics - eventually all you'll get is the 3lod

You can get your error code by pressing the sync and eject buttons when its Rlod'ing - theres a guide here.

If you know someone local to you that can fix it make sure they don't use the heatgun method and do the x-clamp replacement - if you get stuck for a fix, I can repair the little sod for you

I know people who've sent flashed 360s back for repair and had no trouble.

Will see what Mr Whac can do for me first before I trouble Bill gates.

Let's face it, one of our crack NTSC-ers will be a lot quicker than them bastardos anyway.

At least I know that as there is a three rings of death Microsoft will entertain repairing it, so that is on the backburner of my mind. My mate is lending me his 360 until I get mine sorted anyway, as he is on hols for two weeks. What a guy.
