    XBLA game transfers

got a question I'm sure/hope somebody will know the answer to

we've got 2 xbox's in our family but only one is online, 2nd one has a gamertag on it that is live ready though. both xbox's aren't in the same house so not as easy as just hooking the 2nd up.

if we want to play XBLA games on the offline machine is it as simple as copying games onto a memory card or are they assigned to a gamertag or particular machine ?

i was wondering if the simple cheaty copy thing doesn't work could we put the gamertag on a memory card and download using that account and then transfer over to the offline machine ?

any help gratefully received. ta muchly

The games are assigned to both the gamertag and the console they're downloaded on. Anyone can play them on the original machine that was used to purchase them (on or offline).

On a different console though, only the gamertag that paid for the games will be able to play them, and only when signed-in to LIVE. They just appear as trial versions otherwise.

The only solution I see for you, is to physically swap one console for the other, so the XBLA games can be played in the other location offline. Whilst you will also be able to play them when on the (previously offline) console when signed-in to Live.

thanks for that, seems quite conclusive.

I was wondering whether a hard disk swap would work, just get my son to bring his HD over and download to that in the online machine, is that game signed to the actual console or the hard drive its loaded to ?
