Question about PS3 HDD installs

Just something I've been wondering regarding games which give you the choice to install them to the PS3 HDD.
I know with DMC4 and Lost Planet (any others?) it's a mandatory install but I have a load of games (RR7, Motorstorm, Resistance etc etc) that are taking up quite a bit of room on my 60Gb console so just basically wanted to know if it was alright to delete these without it affecting game saves and so on?

As long as it's Game Data and not Save Data that you delete, you're fine. I personally go through and get rid of any data related to anything I'm not playing (Or planning to play) every few weeks. I like to keep everything tidy.
