silent xbox 360?

Done a quick search and couldn't find anything but, does anyone know which of the xbox 360 models is the quietest? I sold mine a while ago and regret it! now want to buy a new one, don't really care about colour, hdmi etc... just want a silent xbox 360!

It's mostly just luck now, some have quieter DVD-Drives , some have quieter fans, some have both, some have none. It's just luck

'Tis true - it's pot luck as to whether you get a quiet setup - I've personally seen at least 4 different types of fan, and obviously there's a load of differing drive manufacturers and model types to consider.....

My first 360 sounded like a jet fighter getting ready to take off! When I got it swapped after it RRoD`d, the new one was almost silent...... apart from when disks slowed down it sounded like someone had thrown a handful of gravel inside it!

I believe having a Benq drive helps. The following website is a place where people log the parts of their consoles along with the lot numbers from manufacture. It is not a 100% accurate guide, but it might help - certainly was right on the one time I went looking for a Sammy.

Theres no such thing as a silent or even quiet 360, the so called lower ones are still terrible.

Mine's really not that bad? I rarely ever notice it, my mate had his 360 over mine the other day and it sounded like it was going to take off. It was seriously about 3-4 times louder than mine- i've had mine airflowed etc though after it broke.
