    Difference in R1 / R3

    Hi,

I was looking at getting final Destination 2 on DVD. (mainly for the DTS!) Play have it on region one for ?15.99 but I have seen it on CDwow region 3 for ?7.99. Apart from the packaging is it the same?

Are there subtitles all the way through, do you get the same extras, do you get Dolby as well as DTS?

    Any help would be great.

    Peter

The R3 seems to be extras-free, whereas the R1 has -

Commentary by Director David Ellis, Producer Craig Perry and Screenwriters J. Mackye Gruber & Eric Bress
Infinifilm option - white rabbit branching to related features
Infinifilm Fact Track - subtitle notes
    The Terror Gauge featurette
Cheating Death: Beyond & Back featurette
Bits & Pieces: Bringing Death to Life documentary
Deleted / Alternate Scenes (with optional commentary):
    - Post Accident Interview
    - Alternate Crematorium Visit
    - Isabella's Husband
    - Nora And Eugene
    - Truck Chase/Eugene At Hospital
    Choose Your Fate game
    Music Videos:
    - Middle Of Nowhere by The Blank Theory
    - Seven Days A Week by The Sounds
    Trailers:
    - Final Destination
    - Final Destination 2
    - Highwaymen
    Infiniflm Trailer
    Color Bars setup screen
    DVD-ROM features:
    - Script-To-Screen
    - Chain Reaction Game (with screensaver as a reward)
    - Final Destination 2 Wallpapers
    - Weblink to Original Theatrical Website
    - Weblink to exclusive Infinifilm content
    - New Line 'Hot Spot' Weblink
    English Subtitles
    1.85:1 anamorphic NTSC
    English DTS ES 6.1
    English Dolby Digital 5.1 EX
    English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround

I'd imagine the Chinese subs on the R3 are removeable, but don't take that as gospel. I guess it just depends on how badly you want the extra material.

Although it doesn't do this specific comparison, I usually use http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk to sort between regions.

See. Noone watches them. If DVD's didnt bother with the added extras, they would be a whole load cheaper.

Using a single individual to generate a rule of one, eh Charles?

Personally I always watch the extras, as the films I've bought are all ones which I like enough to want to know more about - so a director or star commentary and deleted scenes always catch my interest, and I'm often dissapointed if a favourite film of mine has only been released on a bare bones disc.

          Vive la extra!

I am an extras-addict. If I watch a half-decent film I always watch the extras. At the end of the "24" series1 box set I was so gobsmacked by the astounding ending I even had to watch all the utterly naff extras on that.
