    TV question

Can anyone offer a little advise? Sorry mods if this is in the wrong forum?

Just got meself a brand spanky new 28" widescreen Sony tv today , very impressed with picture quality but DVD playback is pretty dismal.

It has two scart sockets only one is RGB , my Sky plus box is plugged into that . The DVD is plugged into AV scart socket , am I doing something wrong and is there anything I can do to improve my DVD playback picture quality

    Cheers in advance

There's usually an option to switch SCART 2 from AV to S-Video in the TVs menu somewhere...that should clean the picture up a bit.

Another suggestion is plug your DVD player in RGB scart for better colour and display but it will mean unplugging it and time to invest in a nice Argos scart switcher. (One without cable)

what you are getting is composite through your second scart input/AV2, as suggested either buy a RGB splitter fron Argos/Index for RGB ovision, or change your second scart input from AV to s-video in the tv's menu and buy a s-video to scart cable. Both options will be superior to your current situation but the RGB splitter should be the option to go for

also not all dvd players output svideo through their scart socket by default, or at least mine doesnt.

I take it that AV2S means s-video so i can get me an s-video cable and scart adapter and stop using my PC on my TV with the crap Composite leads runing from my video card?

I never knew this and this is great news now i can play SFA3 FBA in S-video

It wouldn't do as a scart output on the back of a dvd player is ninety nine times out of a hundred is for RGB.
A scart output/input cannot support RGB and s-video it's either one or the other RGB/composite or composite/s-video and Yes AV2S means s-video

I have a high quality custom made 5m s-video to scart cable going spare, if your interested pm me

What I do is plug the DVD player into SCART2 on the Sky box, then whenever you turn the DVD on, the Sky box goes into a kind of sleep mode and you get a lovely RGB picture from the DVD.
