    Speaker Wire

Have been having a little root around my front room and realised my surround sound system is in need of some new wiring.

I'm wondering if anyone has a shout out for any particular make/type as I'm a bit hesitent to spunk some money on unknown brand or without some opinions.............

Must admit that I just bought what was recommended to me by Richer Sounds in Newcastle myself mate - not much help in terms of answering your question, but if no-one can offer any suggestions I reckon you should just go down there and talk to them; always been good to me.

Don't get up-sold on any poncey stuff. It's wire; you don't need a brand name.

As long as it's well construsted, get the least expensive available.

Just Bank T or paypal would be fine. I will go to the postoffice on monday to see what the cheapest postage would be then let you know. Ok?

I have 2 wall mount speaker brackets as well just incase you need any. For putting hifi sized speakers up on the wall.

Hah, I was a moderator here when we met!

And yes, I did eventually manage it, thanks.

I think it's near Cash Converters...erm, I'm not really sure where that is though. It's up near Woolworths in town anyway, sort of around Grainger Market way.

Just incase anyone else is after cables

I have used this guy/company before

and would recommend. Bought a cable to replace the one that came with my sub cause it was causing some buzzing and the new cable stopped the buzzing completely.

                    disagree with that m8

i have my setup wired with qed silver anniversary and it makes a big difference if using decent components in your set up

The name doesn't matter but quality does matter - solid-core, heavy, stiff wire is what you want. Easy rule to follow: if it's bendy, it's crap and you'll get interference and distortion. Remember the 'test' that apparently embarassed audiophiles because they couldn't tell the difference between expensive cable and a coat hangar? That's because a coat hangar is the perfect cable

I don't use Mark Grant but I buy Scorpion cables (self-made by a guy called Groundy) that are pretty much identical - same components and connections. They really are stunningly good cables and I'd bet they're superior to cables costing three times as much (or more). Subwoofer cables are supposed to be rubbish over long distances (analogue signal) but I have a 5m Scorpion cable that defies everything I've ever been told about cables

quite interesting, because if you read hifi sites and forums at all, they have the opinion that the QED silver anniversary is a poor performer. (not making things up), just due to peoples experiences with the cable.

                              Thats all that counts!

I have this terminated with bananas http://www.russandrews.com/lookup/1/...tereo-3183.htm

I got the old version so it was cheaper, they offer a good upgrade scheme where they will buy your old cable for 75% after a few years and let you upgrade if you pay the rest, not that I'll be doing anything of the sort mind you.
