Xbox 360 Marketplace downloads and licenses

I know Arcade games are issued with two licenses, one for the Gamertag and one for the serial number of the console that downloaded it, but does this same thing apply for game content like map packs etc?

The scenario I'm thinking of is using my own Premium's HDD on another 360 to download some map packs while I'm away.

Yeah it is. Although other people may not be able to use it even though it is logged to thier machine.

        As I suspected.

What happens if I delete the content and then download it again on my own console, does that rectify the DRM?

No it won't work. The whole system is a right load of crap. You'll have to blag MS support to sort out the DRM. Explaining to the Indian call centre what you mean will not be easy however!

What would happen if I downloaded the free Halo 3 map pack with my profile and HDD on another 360, how would this affect its usage on my own 360 (the Premium the HDD is from)?

Do game updates suffer the console serial number license issue or are they generic/license free like most of the Marketplace videos?

It means your live profile would need to be logged in for the maps to register as being there on your own console, but you could always down it again on another profile to reregister it to your consoles serial.

Thanks. Kind of like the workaround for the Optional iPod support and Optional Media Update downloads.

Does this mean other profiles could then use the maps on my own console without my profile being signed in?

                  What about game updates:

I don't think updates themselves are locked to a particular system.

I always got the impression that they were just a case of system seeing the game disc being used and grabbing any update that was availiable.

*waits for some knowledgeable type to come and prove me wrong*

Nah that's right, infact MS have encouraged taking your machine to where there s live access to fix certain problems with games.
