xbox 360 & PS3 on RGB widscreen CRT

I've read that there is no PAL 60 on the PS3 so all PAL games run at 50 hz?

This has put me right off the PS3 so I was wondering how the XBOX 360 handles standard RGB scart on a CRT?

Are all the 360 games PAL 60hz?

Are there any issues i need to be aware of?

Whats the RGB connection on the 360 like?

Are there any problems downscalling the image etc?

I really can't afford an HD TV right now and my old widscreen CRT was great when i had a PS2 and standard XBOX connected via RGB scart.

I'm looking for the same quality and issue free set up i had with those consoles.

Also i take it that the frame rate is better when running at SD resolution via RGB scart?

All 360 games are 60hz, so you don't need to worry about that, the 360 has a built in scaler that can adjust the resolution of any games it still looks very nice even over RGB. I've been using an HDTV since launch and I was very suprised when I saw my friend's 360 running RGB as it didn't look far offto be honest.

The framerates are the same over rgb compared to running in a hd resolution. From my understanding the 360 renders the game at its native res then scales it accordingly to the setting you have ie. 480i up to 1080p or any of the vga specific resolutions.

The only problem you may have is one of resolution, particularly things like menus/subtitles etc. It's a problem I know well using a TV browser connected by RGB SCART to a 28" 4:3 CRT TV. On some web sites they insist on using the smallest fonts possible and I've read the same thing applies to games, Dead Rising being mentionmed as a particular example.

However RGB on a CRT is still one of the best SD solution you'll find. On PS2/XBox/GC the difference in PQ between 60Hz RGB (480i?) and 480p through component was always very small. If the scaler in the XB360 works well and most people say it does I suspect you'll be fairly happy with the results.

That'll be the one, but there are a couple of exceptions which render at the lower resolution and will have slightly better framerates. Other than that it makes no difference what resolution you are at, you can even use the HD-DVD plyaer over RGB
