i'm using avi2vcd and it's taking ages and i'm wondering if there are any other avi to mpeg encoders that are faster

nero has a built-in encoder which is about 1.5 times realitime on my machine.

TMPGenc is easily the best and possibly the fastest.

You start a VCD project and just drag the video files into the window but forget about that... darrylstott mentioned TMPGenc which I totally forgot about. It's probably the best you can use - I just use Nero because I only make the occasional VCD.

AVI2VCD gives really bad picture quality, like's been said TMPGenc is one of the best (www.tmpgenc.com)

I think Nero's built in encoder also does a good job but you don't get anything like as much options, and it only encodes a temporary .MPG file, burns it then deletes it.

now i've got a mpeg i tried making a vcd and nero says it burned it but it does have anything on it (i think because it didn't play on my dvd player and the computer says there is no disk in the drive)
EDIT: now it won't burn anything please help
