this should be made illegal, i used my housemates credit card to get a one month gold memb. for the first time on xbox live, and they charged the card automatically after one month expired, it was probably a term in the fine print that NO ONE ever notices, but still this is on the borderline of defrauding people. i had to call INDIA to cancel my subscription in the UK, INDIA!! it took me 10 minutes to explain to the person that I wanted my subscription cancelled and then she kept asking me why do u wanna cancel? MS is evil.

Note that when you purchase a subscription for any length of time it's listed as an X month SUBSCRIPTION, implying it's a rolling purchase. It's not exactly hidden in the small print, it's just some people seem to assume they're making a one-off purchase (Which is what the top-up cards are for).
Also if they try charging an expired card it will just be rejected, surely? I've accidentally selected my old card when buying points and just been declined.Last edited by MattyD; 03-04-2008, 13:13.

Very few outlets actually process payments at point of sale, what happens is they get an authorization which verifies the balance on your card is enough to cover the payment then process it later.
