    PC speakers and console issue

Heya guys, hopefully hopign to get a little help here.

I just recently upgraded my PC and my OS (vista 64bit now) - but I havnet got the money to upgrade the speakers (no point anyway, moving back into halls in september so no space). For the PC they work fine and for the consoles they DID work with the old PC, but for some reason all audio going into the mic jack is now tinny and horrible. Anything that has a serious amount of sound going into it (like Quite heavy or high pitched music) just makes all the speakers crackle.

Any way to fix this - as this was working with default settings with XP (simulated 5.1)

have you got the proper drivers for the sound card? Don't just let the default vista ones do it

You can also try turning down the volumes in Volume Control slightly (or whatever it's called in Vista), so that nothing is at 100%. Sometimes that causes distortion...

ive done both (sorry for the really late reply - been quite busy). Niether works - ive got the latest drivers for both the motherboard soundcard and the x-fi. Niether work, wii sounds like its being piped though a tin can and 360 gets disorted though audio or heavy music moments.
