    360, 203 and 175 watt

Is there any difference between the two 360s apart from one using less power? I was going to get an arcade to replace my original one which is falling apart. Pretty sure that the higher wattage transformer wont matter but has anyone seen if its the same fitting?

    175W ones are Falcons.

Some (and I mean some) Falcons have 203W n' all.....but you're guaranteed as Kongster says, a Falcon if you get one with a 175W psu...

However, only times gonna tell if the Falcons are any less prone to 3lods sadly.

If you get an Elite, you're not guaranteed to get a Falcon - ask the store to check if it comes with a 175W psu by checking the sticker with barcodes etc on it - it should say power requirement 175W or something along those lines....

Well I asked shopto.com and the elites they have are not falcon, only the arcade packs.

I got a falcon premium off play.com this week and I think there elites are falcons aswell.

How are the fittings? i was hoping to leave the transformer and other leads in place, and not have to pull everything out and swap the cables.

You can safely run a Falcon 175W 360 on a 203W Zephyr PSU - so there's no worries there - the rest of your cables will fit fine

Cheers, that saves working on the cable tidies. You remember that help you were giving me with the drive? The damn thing got a new problem once I was ready to order the parts (hence the arcade being a replacement).

Haven't they changed the connectors on the PSU and 360 now though? I've seen two types in work.

There has been a change...I think the basic shape remains the same but MS have incorporated an additional piece of plastic/ metal to the 175w psu's (and adapted the connector on falcon units to cater for this) meaning they can't physically be plugged into older 360's.

My understanding is that 175w psu's can only be connected to falcon units but 203w psu's can connect to both zephyrs and falcons.

Now that is bad luck That looks like either the GPU is on its way out, or possibly the scaler chip - GPU's fixable, the scaler *might* be - 50/50 either way sadly - gives another pm if you fancy help trying to get it up and running again

Yep - you wouldn't want to plug a 175W PSU into a Zephyr (203W) 360 - it'd blow the PSU to b*ggery. Each version of the 360 has its own wattage draw maximum, hence Falcons can run on a 203W PSU as its maximum draw is 175W, whereas a Zephyr 360 will try and draw 203W from a Falcon 175W PSU and bad things will happen, which is the reason MS altered the connector on the 175W PSU's - so's you can't plug 'em in to a Zephyr 360.

Well I've now stripped it for parts, and those parts were the silver drive cover and button ^^
