Lost Achievements when Recovering Gamertag

Long story short, been without Live for a while, went round a friends, recovered gamertag, played some Halo. Went home, played some Skate, got an achievement I'd been after for ages.

Now I have internet back, recover gamertag back to my console and now the achievement has disapeared. How can I get it back?

You can't. If you get achievements offline you have to connect to Live without recovering your gamertag otherwise they're gone for good.
