    PS3 gt5 update problems

ok I bought a ps3 on wednesday and after going through the pain of initial installation i finally got around to playing GT5.

It wants an update but it keeps failing everytime i try to download it at about 40%. The PSN network works fine and ive been around the shop with no problems , i got the system update when i first switched the machine on. Every time i put GT5 on it asks to download this, fails then lets me play the game.

It is normally connected wirelessly but i have connected with a cable just in case.

    Any ideas?

Bri (whose not having much love for the PS3 atm)

Mine did the exact same ****. I put it down to the ps3 having a shockingly bad network. I did download it but it took about 7 times and a good hour of downloading.

Trying at "off peak" times seems to have worked for some people also.

Have you checked your network settings?
Give the console a static ip, make sure its in your dmz list and enable pnp.
And check youre getting nat 2

Ok i enabled the dmz server on my router and set it to 192.168.0.99. Then gave the ps3 a static IP (192.168.0.99)

Upnp was picked up when i tested the connection and also NAT was shown as type 2.

Does that cover what you suggested huxley as ive never had to fiddle with the dmz before.

Just keep at it. I got stuck on it for hours when i bought it on release day. I read somewhere that it doesn't reset to 0% everytime you restart it, even though it says that.

I assume you have the PAL version right?

Try updating the game at around 4am or at a time when everyone is likely to be asleep.

I have a NAT2 connection and it kept failing to update when I got the game on launch day but I woke up at 4am the morning after and updated it then and updated just fine

Yea that should sort it out, I cant understand why so many people are having problems.
Could this be an isp capping problem?

Don't forget to do some port forwarding aswell. That usually helps alot, well it did for me anyway.
