Pearl White PAL GC & Freeloader

IIRC the white cube would not work with Freeloader due to changes made by Nintendo. Can anyone confirm that the white cube does work with the newest gamecube freeloader version.

I can't confirm, but I believe that this issue was circumvented in the newest GC freeloader in order to get it working with Wii. The Wii uses the same firmware as the last GC version (the Pearl White PAL one). Sadly it was quickly stopped by a Wii firmware update, but I THINK it should work... Need someone "in the know".

picked up a pearl white GC a few months back - and my Copy of freeloader (v1.06) just refuses to boot.. Comes up with disc read error...works great on my original jap/us purple model though...

Hi JB@XL - have replied to your PM, but thought I would post in your thread aswell to help oithers who may be interested in future:-

As far as I can tell these are all the Gamecube Freeloader versions in release order (Would be interested to hear of any more):-
            1.4
            1.6b
            1.6B
            1.0E
            1.05E (rumoured)
07110701 - latest version, which replaces version number with date of manufacture instead

1.0E onwards 'should' work on a Pearl White Gamecube - although I havent tested it myself.

The PAL Pearl White Gamecube (DOL-101 - with no Digital AV outputs) has different firmware to all the other PAL Gamecubes (DOL-001 - with Digital AV outputs) which prevents the Freeloader from working.

As monomaniacpat said - This is also the reason why earlier Freeloaders wouldnt work on the PAL Wii when it was first released (even though they worked fine on NTSC Wii's) - as the PAL Wii uses the Pearly White (DOL-101) Gamecubes firmware

(Although please note Nintendo has susbequently released Wii firmware updates which prevents even more of the Gamecube Freeloader versions from working - although apparently this was an accidental side effect on Nintendo's part)

            Hope that helps!

I knew it worked on my older style Black PAL GC with AV port but I have just tested it to make sure and can confirm that my PAL 2006 Pearl White GC (DOL-101(EUR) ) made in China works perfectly with Freeloader V1.0E 2006 loading US NTSC Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes which is my only import GC game.

Also, just to add I came across an old thread from here which seems to suggest that even the 1.06B Freeloader works on the Pearly White Gamecube:-

Although once again, I havent tested it myself!
