Nokia 1200 contacts - list both phone and sim contacts!

This may not be the best place to ask, but I'm totally drained by the infuriating stupidity of my new phone. It lists double entries for all my contacts - from my sim and from my phones internal memory.

Is there any way to hide the sim entries from my phonebook on a Nokia 1200?

    Google's turned up nothing useful.

    Thanks in advance.

I already have "phone" as opposed to "sim" selected, but it still lists both sets. Does this change where NEW number are recorded, but not which are displayed?

      Thanks for trying!

Just check the entries for each person, Sim card don't support having more than 1 number for a person (i.e. home/work) so it could be something do do with that.

Did you copy names from an old phone to the sim and then to the new phone?

Yes that's right. It definitely lists two copies of each phone number. They are listed e.g. George/H, George/W, George/M - home, work, mobile. One copy is on the SIM and one on the phone (they have a little picture of a phone or a sim card in the details to tell you the location.) So I have six entries for George, e.g.

I've got a partial solution - I used my old phone to delete all the contacts from my SIM. But if anyone know a way simply to hide the sim contacts from my phone's phone book, it'd be appreciated, as I'd like to keep a backup.

          Thanks again.

Basically you want them on your phone memory as opposed to the SIM, as then you can add pics or tones etc... Only transfer to SIM memory when moving contacts to a new device

You may need to delete them from the SIM individually or have an option to remove all SIM contacts. Also when adding new contacts ensure they go to phone memory... *phew*

OK - thanks for the definitive answer. Shame you can't hide the sim contacts like on my old phone, but I guess it's OK. I just entered a number to test and it saved to my phone memory, so I'm good.

              Thanks to both.

Reset factory settings and it'll fix the problem. Then do as Boris says.
                Kept you waiting, huh?
