    360 Question (data on harddrive?)

    My 360 died...out of warranty.

Ok..I have bought around 10 games or so since i joined xbox live and put my credit card details on file.

Is all this stored on the harddrive?

The reason I ask is i'm thinking of selling it as faulty/broken (which it is) and buying an elite for new colour/hdmi better reliability! (not 100% sure on that)

So..please may i ask..is it safe to sell it like that and just a case of putting my harddrive on my new 360 and bring back my profile/games/CC details?

    Thank you.

All the 'fine details' of your CC details etc are profile based, so so long as you don't accidentally flog you're profile (ie on a memory card or HD) then you're fine (it's not stored on the console alone).

You're new console will work fine with your profile and CC details, but you'll have to be connected to xblive to play your downloaded xbla games as the drm is associated with your original console (ie your profile owns the games, but the original console you downloaded 'em on is the only one you can play 'ofline' xbla games without being hooked up to the internet - unless you want to go through lengthy phone calls with MS to get the drm associated with your new console).

Don't sell yer console as faulty/broken - either send it back to MS and suffer the couple of weeks without a 360 and flog it on/part-ex it for the elite (which are no more reliable than other 360s....), or get it repaired independently and flog it after that - you'll loose a cack load of cash if you sell it as broken.....

Thanks Sir Danny..you are so helpful. If i can get £50 for it? I might as well help someone out here..£50 collected i guess. Just was checking completed ebay listings to get a rough guide and knock some off..i think £50 might be ok. Its still boxed..one controller..no HD cable though as i'll need that and a power supply..Is £50 collected to much to ask? Thanks again Danny.

Am wary of that method - it bolts straight to the motherboard as opposed to through the metal enclosure - it worries me that too much pressure on the bolts could cause fracturing of the mobo, and it doesn't halt the mobo from warping away from the GPU/CPU. Good vid tho'

Aye I liked it. If it was a last ditch thing I'd give it a go.
