Fix for Xbox 360 DRM (read if your 360's been repaired)

    Nicked from here:http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/fe...ne-kim/?page=2

    9. What is Microsoft doing to remedy the DRM issues affecting those who have suffered the red ring of death? It's been over two months since I received my new console (unit #3) and I still cannot access content that was purchased with my original 360 while I'm offline. For people who do most of their gaming offline, it is extremely inconvenient. It has also caused me to hold off on future Live purchases for fear of going through this again should I suffer another hardware failure. It makes sense that if you've paid for DLC, you should be able to enjoy it online or off. When are we going to see a resolution?
I can absolutely understand your frustration. Please know that we have taken major steps to address the hardware issues experienced by our customers so that they won't have to deal with this in the future. For people in your shoes, I think we have an amicable solution already in place. I recommend that you visit http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/sy...postrepair.htm for instructions. This process will only require you to connect to Xbox LIVE once to download the content again. Once you follow this process, you should be able to play previously downloaded content whether you are signed into Xbox LIVE or not. If for some reason this process does not work for you, please contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Not sure if there's a UK version but worth a look.

I was advised to do this by Xbox Support when I phoned about DRM problems with my replacement machine, and it did jack ****

This is the method I was recommending last summer. I'm guessing from that link that you have to have had your console returned to MS before that method will work. If you have returned it to a shop MS should refund you the points to re-purchase the games, provided you have a receipt. Just keep on at them.

Was yours returned to MS, Matty?

I returned mine to the shop as it was still under warranty and I couldn't be doing with all the messing around and waiting involved with Xbox Support. I don't have enough paid-for content to worry about sending in my receipts and all that - just Geometry Wars and some expansion packs for games I no longer play like GRAW and R6 Vegas 1.

Sorry folks, didn't realise (didn't bother to search) that link had been posted before.

Not a problem. I didn't know of that link, I just tried to offer that advice in the 360 issues thread whenever someone had the problem. Useful anyway - we can keep a note of this thread for future reference (saves us writing it out).
