    Ps3 audio output problems

Righty, I've just noticed that when I'm on the XMB or when I'm watching a BD (trying ratatouille right now) that my decoder is only getting a stereo signal. I'm using an optical cable, what am I doing wrong?

Is it set to PCM or bitstream? When you're watching a film, press triangle and look for AV Settings. Click on it and check Audio Output Format - set this to bitstream if you're using optical output

I had it set to bitsteam but that didn't help. I went back to the audio setup and ticked all the boxes then restarted the machine, it is working properly now.

Which option shouldn't be ticked, I only have a cheapo 5.1 system, I don't want to melt my speakers as per the warning

Tick 5.1 Dolby Digital and 5.1 DTS (if you have a DTS receiver). Leave everything else alone as they're all for HDMI audio
