Well I had a look at this more closely over the weekend and can report that the results from this piece of kit are pretty good. The two outputs from the component buffer are (as you'd expect) identical to each other, and the difference to the original signal is pretty good. There is a difference, but overall its marginal - it doesn't cause clipping, and colour level and luminance are proportionally maintained.
I'm not sure how to test for a delay (if anyone has a robust method - let me know and I'll try), but I couldn't notice one!
For the money, its worth it in my opinion - it certainly does what I need it to do.
