counter strike

Hi,
I recently bought a half life for my pc (bestseller budet range for ?10).

I downloaded the full version of counter strike (csv15full.exe).
When I try to click either quick start or or play online I get the error message saying my cs.exe is out of date or sometimes I get that client .dll is not there (i ve checked and it is there).

I checked to see if the half life exe is out of date with the sierra utility but its not.

I tried downloading the counterstrike update utility but when I try and intall it the default directory is set as "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\FAIL" and when I try to change it to the counter strike folder it gives me a message saying that I must install it to the counter strike folder?!

I ve tried unintalling half life and starting all over again but to no avail.

Can someone please please help!!

Here's step by step instructions on how to get CS working properly:

1. Install Half-Life.
2. Download Half-Life 1.1.1.0 Patch(Full Client)
3. Install Half-Life 1.1.1.0 Patch now.
4. Download Counter-Strike 1.5 Full Mod Client [Win32]
5. Install Counter-Strike 1.5 Mod Client.

That should be all you need really, with the Half-Life update you'll get some other mods too like TFC and Ricochet. And for future reference you'll always need to get the MOD version of all mods. Retail versions are for people who don't own the original half-life but want to play CS, DoD etc
