      Balls. What models have hardware based bc? I notice some JP ps3 have dumped ps2 bc ala EU, I though it was just the UK who got screwed.

        20GB=Hardware BC. No card reader or Wi-Fi.
        60GB=Hardware BC. Card reader
        80GB=Software BC. Card reader
        40GB=PS1-only software BC. No card reader.

            Just bought a 40GB model as BC isn't really a priority but what are the chances of eventually having PS2 games running on it with just emulation, no extra hardware. The 360 seems to handle it well with xbox stuff, or is the just too hard to emulate fully.

              That'd be a firmware thing. That would mean different firmwares for different people, which I reckon they won't be doing any time soon. It is rather weird that you can create a virtual PS2 memory card on a non-BC model though.

              Even on a hardware BC unit I find it strange. Once you boot a PS2 game the pad turns off and you have to turn it back on again. It doesn't happen with PS1 games though. I've never understood it.

                I wondered what that was about as well, I suppose there could be a chance of it once the revised models have a larger installed user base maybe, depends if sony can be bothered probably.
