2 360's on LAN at once?

    Hey all,

Me and my housemate both want to play live at the same time - obviously if one of us connects, they take the ports, and get open NAT - then when the next one connects, they get strict NAT. Just wondering if there is any way around this without having to get seperate WAN IP's for my 360's?

    Thanks

    Dave

Did you switch on the UPnP on the broaband router?

The easiest option open to you that i can think of is to try using a static ip for your 360's.

Contact your Router manufacturers and ask them if they can tell you what ip they have configured on the routers lan side as they should know,as long as you can provide them with the details and serial number etc of the hardware. Then disable DHCP on your router (unless you know how to configure it to assign address once you have the ip from your manufacturer).

        Enable UPnP

Once you have the pre-configured IP address of the internal side of the router you can then set your 360's manual addresses to sit inside the same subnet as the router ip.

i.e: If your router ip is 192.168.0.1 (which it probably will be) and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 then you can assign a static ip address to your x360. Obviously it should be 192.168.0...blah blah, but the last number should not be 1 as that will be assigned to your router. I would assign each 360 2 and 3 respectively. So you would have :

        Router Internal: 192.168.0.1
        1st 360: 192.168.0.2
        2nd 360: 192.168.0.3

Also you are going to have to set up port forwarding from your Router to your ip's assigned to your 360's.

And your router will have to have OPENNAT configured to play games online.

This page explains in a bit more detail about it and also points to M/Softs 360 site about 360 Live compliant routers which if yours aint on the list, it may be an idea to maybe think about changing to one as it will probably make life a lot easier and a lot of the above will be done automatically.
