faulty passport 3

recently got an n64 passport 3 convertor but it does'nt work, when i turn it on all i get is a black screen, i then got a second passport 3 and just got the same again

does anyone know how to fix these ? i was going to open one up but their glued together

Stupid question, but you're connecting up a boot cart of the same region as the machine as well as the import game?

Just checking as it's unlikely that both are faulty.

thats what your supposed to do aint it, PAL machine, PAL boot cart in the back and US/Jap import game on top???

Yep that's the system.

Have you tried it on a different machine?

The only other thing I can think of is this faq on ign

seems to indicate that you need to push the cart in a long way until the III on the sticker can't be seen.

yeah, i've tried everything. i usto own a pp3 (before it broke- my own fault) and that worked fine so the 2 i have now defo are knackerd

I'm pretty sure iirc that you have to hold a button down on the n64 joypad.

Put something small underneath the game at the back (like a small book) - this can usually get passports going if they fail to work.

You have to hold down the green button i think when you switch the
power on.This should send you to the main options screen.
If that doesnt work try another one.I remeber this happening on mine.

I`ve got a Passport III and an unboxed US copy of ?World Driver Championship? that I could live without. Do you have anything DC,XB or GC that you`d like to swap for it? I`m also after an N64 Controller if you have a spare one. Let me know.

i'm currently in the process of sorting out a passport 3 from someone else on the forum- he's going to check that it works ok first though.

if not i'll be in touch- i have a few gamecube games lying around
