Softmodded Xbox keeps asking for the time

I turned off my main powerblock last night, to save some zing. When i turned my xbox on this morning to watch some tv on XBMC, it keeps asking for the time and won't go to the modded bios. Can anyone help?

Set the time and keep it plugged in. It's normal like that, I'd say. It should boot to the modded bios when powering up after having it plugged in for a while.

I assume you have re-entered the time properly. The Xbox has some sort of short term clock battery which lasts for a few hours. However, if you turn the power off completely, particularly overnight as I've always done, every time you power up it will require you to set the time again unlike the PS2 whose clock battery seems to last months.

If you are setting the time correctly and entering it the Xbox should at least be displaying the standard dashboard afterwards. What happens on a soft-modded XBox I don't know but I would guess it should be to whatever new dashboard you're using. If it isn't and it's constantly asking you to re-enter the time there is something funny going on.

What happens when you load a game? Once you've set the time it should load automatically. Have you tried entering a game and then ejecting - the dashboard should come up then. If it doesn't there must be a real problem and I can't guess the cause or offer a solution.

How was it soft modded, was it using a font exploit? Have a quick google for Bert & Ernie Reloaded which was supposed to fix the time bug.

This was a problem in the early days of modding. A more recent BIOS for either a chip or an updated softmod will resolve this.

Never had any problem with my chipped Xbox except, occassionally, games not loading automatically after setting the time after a long power off. You have to eject and then reload. Guess my BIOS must have been up to date when it was fitted - so glad I had my chip fitted professionally. With no PC I'd be really ***** if I had to update the BIOS myself.

If you clock keeps looping, put a disc in the drawer (I used a region1 dvd when this happened to me) and this might get you past it (on mine, XBMC is set as the dash so no idea if that makes any difference). Then after that it should be fine as long as you leave the power on.
