ds power question

my friend has a jap ds but no adapter, would he be alright just getting a uk adapter for it? i always run my ds (which i'm sure is american, though i bought it in japan and it has an adapter with jap writing on it) from the adapter that it came boxed with through a stepdown. i'm not very knowledgable on handheld stepping down and all that.

A DS will work with any adaptor. Just remember that the Original and the lite have different connector so he'll need a specific one.
