    Xbox Live prob

Hi chaps - tried to sign into Live earlier. I have my Xbox connected to a router with an ethernet cable. My Wii, which is in the same room, connected fine to the internets via my wireless router.

Now sometimes, I have a problem for a few mins signing into Live. I can normally rectify this by doing a connection test and then it works again. Normally if Live isn't working, it will try for a few seconds before telling me that it can't sign into Xbox Live. This time however, it tells me instantly that it cannot, and asks me to either make sure I am plugged in or try recovering my gamertag.

When I perform a connection test, it stops at the first hurdle after telling me the Network Adapter is disconnected. There is no network adapter! What is wrong chaps?

p.s. as I say internets working in my house as the Wii is online

Reboot the router? Is the router warm? I used to get probs with a Belkin jobbie that would play up if it got too hot.

Is the cable plugged into the 360 and router properly

tried a different cable and or different port on the router

It's not set to wireless by mistake is it (not sure if you can do it without the wireless adaptor)

That isn't a bad shout actually mate (reboot thing). The other night I couldn't connect tothe EA servers playing FIFA, switched my router on and off and hey presto it worked.

Haven't diddled with my settings on Xbox at all so wouldn;'t be that. We will see anyways.

Will try that when I get home unless any of you others have any suggestions.

If the Wii is working I doubt it is the router playing up as surely that would'nt work either

Alright the Seanster - agree with both the above posts - prolly either try another cable (the 360 defaults to network adaptor if it doesn't find a cable/router setup), or try rebooting the router.

Live can be a fussy old mare - when I can't get on it I panic and check here and a xbscene to see if it's down in the UK, 9/10 its either down at my local exchange or I've forgotten to plug me 360 in

Forgive me if im talking gibberish here, but one thing I have found when I use my original Xbox is that if you have set a proxy port for it you may find that the Wii 'takes over' this port number on the router when turned on (even though its wireless) and if the Wii is left in Standby (Wii Connect 24) it will often still be using this port that is set for the xbox, stopping the xbox from connecting - if that makes sense!

Is it just the clip bit that has snapped ? if so sellotape the lead to the router/360. Daughter had a habit of snapping the clip things couple of years back, was annoying to say the least.

I got one that I think may fit the bill going spare. PM me your address and I'll send it first class tomorrow.
