Connecting to the net through my phone?

Now, at the moment, I've just reinstalled Vista on my PC, and since the network card I have isn't compatible with Vista I've had to order a new one which is fine, it's coming tomorrow. But at the moment, I've got my N95 plugged into the PC and using my 3G connection of that to connect to the net, which obviously isn't ideal as I'll go through my monthly allowance fairly fast!

Is it possible to use my N95 to connect to my wireless router and pass that connection through to the PC instead?

I've had a wee poke around the phone options and the Nokia PC Suite and can't see anything, surely it's possible so if they've left it out, bit annoying!

    Cheers.

Don't believe you can... the only wireless capability I've seen on phones is bluetooth, which isn't compatible.

Out of interest, what make/model network card wouldn't work with Vista? I'd have thought the vast majority should be supported out of the box, as a lot of them tend to use the same few chipset variants.

Uch thats a shame mate, cheers anway!

      Netgear WG311v2.

The v3 works now with new drivers but v2 just doesn't work. There's pages and pages of topics on the net when you google it of people trying to get it working with varied results.

And also a Belkin F5D6000, again the model up, the F5D7000 works with the new drivers but the 6000's don't. Tried both plugged in to Vista installing old and new drivers so just ordered a F5D7000 for £16!

Ah right, wireless network card; that would explain it then. I thought you meant the standard ethernet cable type, which nearly always have generic driver support in Windows.

Is there any reason you need to use it instead of the USB cable?

He wanted to connect the phone to his router via wireless, so he could use his [already paid for] internet access... thus avoiding having to pay a silly amount for mobile internet usage. So either way, he'd still be using the USB cable.

Yeah I didn't mean connect the PC to the phone via WiFi which you can do using a program but connect through USB to use my home wireless network, using my phone as some kind of router I guess.

Having searched the net a bit more though, I don't think it is possible!

I imagine if you plugged the phone into the PC then set up ICS and put your PC into the wan port of the router you'd be able to spread the love across your wireless network.

Having a quick browse on google came up with this.

Thought it might be of some use?
