    double RGB connection question

    dear one and all,

Currently, both my 360 and wii use rgb connections but my television will only support one set of rgb leeds and the prospect of having to pull out and put in the leads every time i want to play a console is starting to really frustrate me.

I'm sure I've heard that multi RGB blocks do exist but i've also heard that a degree of picture quality is lost when using them.

Can anyone here suggest a way of getting around this?

    yours desperately,

    luke

Get yourself a good quality scart splitter, and image quality loss shouldnt be much of (if at all) an issue. The legendary 'Argos' one is supposed to be exellent.

I went down to Maplins on my lunch, you reminded me, this is the exact situation I'm in.

Anyway after my shoddy explanation, they told me there is an adaptor £39.99 and then I'd need a lead to go from that to the telly, another £20ish (!). so I said I'd have a think.

after this you still can't swich from your remote, there's a switch on the adaptor to flick between the 2 consoles.

I thought about just getting a HDMI cable for the 360 and leave the component for the wii plugged in and sort it that way but my headphones need the original 360 cables. Might work for you though.

ah! right. £60 is absurd. I don't think I could do that. Your hdmi idea is a good one though but i thought you could only use HDMI on the elite, or am I wrong?

Or thinking about it, maybe run the 360 through vga and have the sound going through my amp...

You're talking about component, not RGB scart.

Component splitters do exist, don't see why a decent one with proper isolation would degrade the picture but I have no experience of using them.

Check the length between the bits that go into your consoles and the actual switch box.

Great idea but I've only ever heard that the wires aren't long enough, though depending on how your consoles are set up it could be all right.

                    ok!

that is some cable! I might give that a go instead. I suppose disconnecting one cable on the back of a console is infinately superior to having to disconnect 5 cables. and its pretty cheap.

                    thanks for that mission!

I had the same problem, but wasn't too impressed with that cable. I eventually went VGA for the 360 and bought a couple of phono splitters to sort out the audio.
