Excell help. percentage problem.

Im trying to work out a formula in excel but just can get it to work.

example for you.

cell 2 = cell 1 (say ?3.22) minus 20%

no matter what i do i cant get the formula (or any formulas to work for this problem) and its driving me nuts. Please help guys. I know its simple but the answer is eluding me.

Hi, just so happens I have my sportsbook spreadsheet open right now with a few formulas for percentages, (getting some action on tonights NBA playoffs)

In A1 is my bank total, to find out what minus 20% would be, or 80% of the total I use:

=(A1)*80%

So you would use =(Cell1)*80%

that should then tell you what 80% of figure is, same as minus 20%.

or you could just multiply it by 0.8
