Faulty PS2 slimline Power Pack help ?

    Hi,

I am having problems with the power cable on my UK slimline PS2.
It will often just turn the console off right in the middle of a game

I am sure the problem is that where the wire goes into the ps2 there must be a loose connection as if you move the wire around you can make the power go off or back on.

I doubt there is a way to fix this so I was wondering if anyone has a spare power pack that would work or know where I can get one dirt cheep!

I know a few years ago there was a recall of powerpacks by Sony as they were faulty so maybe mine was one that should have been replaced for free? I don't think sony will replace now though.

    Any help would be great

Had one of these handed to me to repair recently, it was a bad solder joint on the power socket inside the console.

Are you sure it's the wire?

So you think it could be a problem in the power socket inside the console?
You could be right but I hope not
      Is is fixable?

If it's just the solder connection being wobbly, it's easy to fix, anyone with a soldering iron should be able to do it. Just try and leave it alone until they do, though.

Don't wiggle it about to try and see what happens, as you could aggrevate the break.

It happens quite a lot with the slimlines

If you can't fix it GAME used to sell replacements, not official ones thou.

            Hi all,

I have tested it with my friends ps2 powerpack and have the same problem so it must be the 'solder connection being wobbly' I have a solder but unless it's really easy to fix I would not want to do it myself.

If it is easy can someone give me a step by step guide to do it?

            Many thanks

That would surely mean it isn't the power pack non?
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Yeah the problem must be in the actual ps2 and not the power pack.
