    5.1 over HDMI?!

    Hello all!

Couple of questions, because I'm not to clever with these kinds of things.

I want to get one of these Sony HT-SS1300 and connect my 360, PS3 and DVD Player to it.

The amp has 3 HDMI in - one for Blu Ray, one for DVD and another. Question is, if I connect all 3 of my devices to it via HDMI will I get proper 5.1 sound?

Am I right in thinking I wouldn't need to bother with optical at all then?

Has what I said even made sense?!

    Cheers!

    You will, yes.

You will get Dolby Digital and DTS, which any game will be using.

For Blu-Ray, while the amp does not support HD Audio codecs (Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD), it does support LPCM 5.1. So if you set your Blu-Ray Player to decode the audio and send to your amp as LPCM 5.1, it should work fine.

      Thanks for that!

My Blu Ray player is my PS3, I've already checked out the settings in the PS3 menus and there is one for BD/DVD audio and it's currently set to Linear PCM so it should work straight out the box right?

Not tried myself, but that definitely sounds right.
