XBOX 360 system link

Right. I did a search for this and couldn't find a topic so please don't kill me if there is an existing thread. I was thinking about taking my 360 down to a mate's today for some system link hijinks and wondered whether a standard ethernet cable would work without a router/switch?
I know for the original Xbox you needed a crossover cable and I've stupidly misplaced mine amongst a bundle of standard leads, so failing the first option, is there anyway to differenciate between standard and 'patched' crossover leads?

IIRC you can just look at the connectors and see the colours of the wires, and from that determine if its a crossover cable or not. Should look like this:-

360 doesn't require a crossover cable for system link. A standard ethernet cable will do the trick.

Forgot to thank you chaps. Found the crossover cable eventually but ended up using a Livebox and ethernet for the set-up. I'll have to try the standard ethernet alone (sans router) next time.
