    PS2 fighting pads?

So a few of us at work have put some money together in a plan to get a PS2, which we will use to play NTSC-J fighting games during our lunch hour and whenever else we can skive off.

My part of the task is to get some pads. I'm loathe to bring in Saturn pads as I don't want them subjected to too much abuse from button mashers, so I've narrowed it down to either the Nuby SF controllers or Ascii Fighting pads.

After going through about 76 Ascii pads for DC, as they are so unreliable I'm slightly put off by them, so how are the Nuby ones? Bear in mind that this isn't serious competition level play here, only myself and one other guy are actually serious gamers, so I'm not needing Sanwa Denshi precision parts.

Also if there are any other pads out there that I don't know about then please let me know about them.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

      Daryl,

Hit up your local HMV & see if they are still doing any of those Chun Li Ltd Edition pads made by Nubby

Think they were last in their 2 for ?20 job but I found these are pretty good replacements for Arcade Sticks & feature all six buttons in a perfect SF2 layout.

Infact I'm sure there's one for sale in the classifieds at the mo which may be worth picking up.

Infact Consoles & Gadgets have the Akuma, Ryu & Chun Li one's in stock for ?17.99 each

Could be exactly what you need

I like the street fighter pads. The layout is perfect and the d pad is pretty good.

You won't see much change out of £70 for a used one matey, and that's if you can even find one. I won't tell you how much new ones cost.

            Your welcome

Just get the Akuma one instead of Ken, still one of Ryu's bigger Adversaries lol

Might be worth Emailing them to ask about the Ken one...they do have it listed but it's out of stock at the mo

Oh & their Saturn pads would be about ?30 if they could get stock

They do have good stock on Arcade Sticks including the Sega Virtua Stick, they even have the Guilty Gear XX Pads in stock which look pretty funky.

You may think I'm mad but I only use the standard ps2 dualshock for figthing games. It may be a fluke but the design of the d-pad just happens to be absolutely perfect for fighting motions. I can play 3rd Strike to a reasonably high level with every single character. I've tried using other controllers and I just can't adapt, mind I've been using ps1/ 2 pads for over ten years.

Failing that I'd agree the SF branded nubytech pads are pretty damn good, cheap and similar in design to the Ascii DC pad. However they're actually comfortable and responsive unlike that overpriced pos with a dpad that's slantly! wtf

I'm in full agreement with you Folco, but I've already stolen the DS2 from the PS2 we bought, so I have to get something everybody considers suitable for fighting games.
