List of multi region upscaling dvd players?

How do I find out if an upscaling dvd player can be made region free or, better still (like my old dvd player) region free out of the box? Google is leading me around in circles but it would be idea if I could find a few common ones, walk into a shop with the list and buy one.

Anyone know how I find this out?

I have this. It uses HDMI, upscales everything to 1080i and plays Divx off a usb pen.

The reviews there seem to be quite negative on this model. Any others out there?

Actually, is it possible to run my SD Sky signal through one of these upscaling DVD players or do I need to get a new Sky box thingy?

Just pop into your local Richer sounds

they will point you in the right direction and all of the players they sell are modded or region free

bought my last 2 dvd players from them and (touch wood) not a problem

look up a few upscaling players your interested in then search the forum for the handset hack.
If there isnt one just ask someone is bound to find one for you

If you find a player you like, look it up here. That'll tell you if there are any hacks for it.

I use a Pioneer DV-400V. It's multiregion (with PAL/NTSC auto-switching), upscales to 1080p, plays DivX/Xvid/WMV (from disc or through the USB port on the front, with SRT subtitle support), came multiregion out of the box, and you can get them for £70 now. Excellent little player.
