LCD TV's and Guarantees, little help please :)

    Hi all,
Just about the pick up a 20" Sony LCD (20B450), saw it in M&S and John Lewis' for ?399 including the 5 Year Guarantee. However, online at Amazon it's ?130 cheaper at ?269. I wondered if the warranty/guarantee for 5 years is worth the extra loot or not? Never had a TV go wrong (touch wood), so would be inclined to go for the Amazon offer but wondered if anyone had any expereinces with any of the three companies and when it comes to faulty goods/damaged TVs???
    Cheers

I wouldn't bother, even with a 5yr guarantee, £399 is obscene for a 20", even if it is a sony. I'd go for the cheaper option personally, save money, and in 5yrs you might be thinking about upgrading anyway. £399.. ouch

Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking, just paranoid nowdays with regards to technology, as things don't seem to have quite the same build quality as they used to

John Lewis will price match against any retail store. I just got over £200 knocked off a new telly because I found it cheaper elsewhere... plus you still get the 5 year warranty.

Whatever you do, there's no way you should be paying £399 for a 20" TV, even with Sony tax on top. I only paid about £150 more for a 26" LCD, and that was in 2005.

Hell, double that price and you could be buying a 42" plasma with a good spec. That doesn't add up to me.

While I appreciate that it may be a little pricey I don't need, or want, a large TV. I'd rather get a quality set that's smaller, 20" is more than fine. I also need one of a certain aesthetic, hence the Sony set is pretty spot on.

Is this the one you're after?

JL matched price against this place for my TV.

They have a store somewhere (up north I think), like I said JL will only price match with a retail store but I think in this case the store prices are the same as the online ones.

Go to the JL website and use the option to contact your local store (you fill out a form and they email you back). Give them your details, the set you want, and the link to the site with the cheaper price. After a few days they will come back and tell you if they will match the price or not.
